  • What’s a “DTC"?
DTC stands for Democratic Town Committee. In the U.S., the Democratic Party is governed by committees of citizens who are registered Democrats, from the national level, down to the state and municipal level. In Connecticut, a DTC is the most local level of Party governance. There is a DTC in almost every town and city in our state.
  • What is the Democratic Party Platform?
Every four years, Democrats nationwide join together to craft our party’s platform. The platform is created to uplift working people and write out the values that will guide our party for years. You can read the most current National Democratic Party Platform HERE and the Connecticut Party Platform HERE.
  • How many Democrats are there in the town of Fairfield?
Democrats have been the majority party in Fairfield since 2016, and we continue to grow! As of June 2023, there were 13,898 registered Democrats in Fairfield and 9,294 registered Republicans (there were 16,700 unaffiliated and “other” voters).
  • What are the sources of funding for the DTC?
The Fairfield DTC relies on donations to support and fund our mission. We hold periodic fundraisers to support various party functions and help us run election campaigns. Our biggest annual fundraisers are the Century Club Brunch (held in the spring) and the John J. Sullivan Awards Dinner (held in the fall).
  • Can I attend a DTC meeting?
We would love that! Join fellow Democrats at our monthly meetings, where we receive updates on DTC events and activities from DTC leadership and our Democratic elected officials and local leaders. Special guest speakers also inform us on important issues of topical interest. DTC meetings are typically held on the first Monday of each month. A schedule of upcoming meetings can be found on our Events page.
  • How does someone become a DTC member?
DTC members serve two-year terms and are either elected at a caucus of Democrats registered in Fairfield or if there are vacancies, appointed to fill such a vacancy by a vote of the DTC. Fun fact: DTC membership is capped at one Town Committee member for every 53 registered Democrats in Fairfield.
